The Story
Hojicha emerged in Kyoto in the 1920s, when tea purveyors discovered how to make good use of the stems and stalks left over after harvesting the teas. First class Hojicha is named “Karigane Hojicha” in Japanese, of which only the stems from the highest quality Matcha are used and roasted over charcoal at 200°C.
