The Story
Gyokuro literally means “jade dew”, referring to the pale green colour of the brewed infusion. Like Matcha, Gyokuro is grown under the shade with layers of black gauze covering the tea farms for 25 days starting from April, by which the complex flavours and natural sweetness of the tea are developed and retained in the leaves.
The mellow tone and a mildly nutty yet crispy flavour of the tea make it one of the best drinks to beat the summer heat.
